Instructor(s) - Business Administration (Kitimat)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for a term Instructor(s) in our Business Administration (BADM) program as outlined below (subject to minimum enrolment) over the 2024/2025 academic year.  Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging between $37.55 and $66.37 hourly.

Duties:  Based in Kitimat, the instructor(s) will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the BADM program. This includes course preparation, teaching, evaluation of student work and guiding students by providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction.

All courses will be delivered face-to-face (45 instructional hours per course) and include:

ACCT 150: Financial Accounting I

ACCT 151: Financial Accounting II

BCPT 150: Business Computers

BENG 150: Business Communications

BLAW 152: Canadian Business Law

ECON 150: Micro Economics

ECON 151: Macro Economics

MARK 150: Introduction to Marketing

MATH 150: Mathematics of Finance

MGMT 150: Principles of Management

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business (MBA preferred) or a closely related discipline (Commerce, Accounting, Economics).
  • Experience teaching in a variety of formats, including online, face to face and through distributed learning is required.
  • Additional post-secondary education and training in teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma) is preferred.
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the characteristics of our strategic plan (adventurous, transformative, and integrity) with the demonstrated ability to apply them to teaching.

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and experience with business topics. Experience should demonstrate excellent technology skills, group facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills. A commitment to student success is required, along with a demonstrated ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base.
